Cleanup Drive: Anti-Plastic and Waste Project

Project Description

Junk and waste are the perfect hosts for bacteria, and it can grow if the waste is not disposed of properly. It increases the risk of disease in humans who come in contact with the trash. About the plastic and waste problem within the area, this project will discuss and explain to every person that every market, resorts and other establishments would have to strive to eliminate plastics and waste. This project promotes practices that require 3 R's of waste management, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Reduce - All the hotels and resorts and any other establishments, kitchen shops must use only reusable bags, dining tables are adorned with reusable cloth serviettes instead of paper napkins. Drinks are served with cool metal or bamboo straws. Plastic-bottled beverages including mineral water have been replaced with glass-bottled drinks and a refillable water station. Bathroom amenities, however, are now refillable instead of a single-use plastic sachet.

Reusable - Reusable bags will be available at the sari-sari stores and it is available to use when shopping. It helps to reduce single-use plastic.

Recycle -  All the plastic disposables collected from the resort are up-cycled through a community livelihood project. It will shred all the plastics and turn them into bags and chairs which the people, and any other establishments buy and use. However, all the wastes such as leaves, twigs and food scraps will be decomposed to make into fertilizers to enrich the soils and plants which farmers will buy and use.
